— THE TEAM
Who writes here.
The publication is not a one-person project. We deliberately bring in named contributors with hands-on experience in their pillars, because authority on self-reliance is built by people who've done the thing.
The Editorial Desk
Founder · Editor
The publication's founder spent two years doing urban counterinsurgency work — what we used to call COIN ops — for the South African military, and was a founder member of the SA Bodyguards Association. He homesteads off-grid on nine hectares in rural South Africa.
The decision to keep the founder's name and face off the public site is deliberate, for operational and security reasons. The credentials carry the weight; the byline reads "the Editorial Desk."
Lisa
Staff writer
Lisa has lived off-grid and homesteaded for more than ten years. She writes on self-reliance from the inside — water, food, growing your own, and the quiet practicalities of a more self-sufficient life — with a calm, evidence-led eye and a real commitment to the environment.
She grows much of her own food, keeps a working vegetable garden, and is drawn to the skills that make a household less dependent and more resilient. Her writing favours method over fear: what actually works, tested over years rather than read in a manual.
More to come
Our homesteading editor — twenty-plus years on a working smallholding — joins shortly, and will appear here under their own name.
